Why a 2MB Upload Limit Gets in the Way

A 2MB limit can feel reasonable until you try to share an unedited phone photo, a detailed product image, or a full-screen screenshot. Modern cameras capture more detail, and that detail takes space. The image may look ordinary on your screen while still being too large for a service with a strict 2MB ceiling.

That leaves you with extra work before you can get a link: open an editor, reduce the dimensions, change the format, lower the quality, export another copy, and try again. Compression can be useful when you choose it for performance, but it should not be a mandatory detour every time you need to share a normal image.

How to Upload an Image Larger Than 2MB

The uploader at the top of this page uses the same direct workflow on desktop and mobile. There is no separate form, redirect, or registration gate between choosing the image and receiving the result.

   Select or paste your image

   Choose a file, drag it into the uploader, or paste an image with Ctrl+V on Windows and Linux or Cmd+V on Mac. JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF files can be up to 5 MB.

   Get your direct URL

   After the upload finishes, review the image preview and copy the direct public image URL. You can also open the image or download the link as a TXT file.

   Share where direct links are accepted

   Paste the URL into a message, document, website, forum, or another destination that accepts direct image links. Keep your original file because free hosting uses best-effort retention.

A valid animated GIF remains a GIF when it passes the upload safeguards, so its animation can be preserved. A supported HEIC or HEIF phone photo follows a different path: Pic2URL converts it to a compatible JPEG, removes sensitive metadata handled by the conversion process, and returns a .jpg URL.

Pic2URL keeps the result focused on the direct image address. It does not present generated HTML, Markdown, or BBCode fields. Instead, the result card provides the image information and the actions currently supported by the uploader.

The generated address is public. A randomized filename reduces casual guessing, but it is not authentication and does not make the image private. Anyone who receives the URL may be able to view, save, or redistribute the image, so review the file before uploading and avoid private or sensitive material.
